I was driving last night on the freeway for about a 1/2 hour, I exited and my lights were turning on and of sopratically- tried messing with the switch to no avail. It's like they got warmed up and started turning on and off. What's up guys? Is it the switch on is there some remote relay that is shorting out?
I just read Steve Delanty's "Whiter Whites. Brighter Brights" Sounds like maybe this might be the problem- Maybey just installing a couple headlight relays in the system to isolate the switch will work. Sound right?
I'm assuming that this problem is on your 72 F-250 and that you had the lights on and they would intermittently go off. If not, please provide more info. I had a similar problem on my 1980. It turned out to be a bad floor dimmer switch. Good luck - BUBBA
This weekend I installed two (high and low beam) headlight relays on my 72 F-250. Wow, what a difference! The stock headlights are bright now and it seemed to fix the on/off flashing problem when they got warm. Since I fused and re-wired the lights, I think I will try and run some new halogens. I used the tech section on this board and followed the "whiter whites, brighter brights" article. Very informative.
