Can anyone tell me what i can do to find out why when i turn the thermostat switch to hot it does not do anything. If i have the A/C on and turn it to HOT the temp does not change. Anyone know how to check to see if the switch is bad or what. I have a 2001 Ford F-150 Surpercrew 4X4. Also when i pull a trailer with the truck it wants to run hot for some reason i have changed the thermostat and flushed the radiator this is how i found out the temp control does not work
pull the **** off and see if the splines on the back are stripped. if you are actually moving the **** and it dont get hot, then the blend door or motor that controls it has a problme. i think it is below the radio, above the transmission hump. you might be able to see it laying on the drivers floor and looking up. the door mixes hot and cold air to get the temp you want. the door is electric and motor is "set" by the **** position.
OK thanks stevie will check that. I know the **** is not stripped i checked that but do not know about the door. Should i be able to hear the motor on the door move when i turn the **** if the engine is not running.
Also on the overheating problem is there any way to test the clutch on the fan to see if it is going bad. I also had a check engine light come on and i had it checked and had something to do with the catalyst converter and air flow. If the converter is stopping up will that cause the engine to run hot.
