sounds like crap, if you want a good sound get a set of mufflers or glass packs magna flow or flow masters or a set of glasspacks (cherrybombs) cherry bombs start of around 40+ dollers each
with out mufflers the cats cause a sound like mower or weed eater on steriods nast sound, i know because i have try it

I don't know where you try it at.......but on a good old V8 there is no way in hell you can make them sound like a "weedeater" !!!
I'm practically running open headers on my 77,and if that sounds like a weedeater then I guess I can lay claim to having the biggest damn weedeater in Iredell county!
Back in my younger days ......we all had the mufflers removed on our cars and only ran the cats then straight pipe the rest of the way, makes for a nice low rumble till you hit the loud pedal!!

Yea i agree, I have a 351m in my 78 with headers, straight pipe 1 chambers, and 45* turndowns. But this is on my 94. I cant get it inspected if i go to cutting cats off.
Daddy has a 94 stock everything, except he put 1 chambers with 45* turndowns. It sounds alright but i like the exhaust loud.

I didn't say to cut the cats off......I said that it would have a nice low rumble at lower speeds till you hit the loud pedal!!
I did this on a 1987 GTA Trans Am and everyone wondered what I had under the hood, they couldn't believe that it was a stock 305 tpi motor.
My wife had her 89 Camaro done the same way.....no muffler-only a cat!! Her's sounded just as good as mine did,and her's was a 305 tbi.
Then my 89 Blazer show truck was done with dual cats and straight piped all the way out the back, sounded like a normal v-8...TILL you gave it gas!! Then it crackled like hell....it would give old timers heart attacks if they were next to it....I sure do miss that old thing!!
The only problem that you'll have is some inspectors look for a muffler,so just find you one who doesn't!!!!! Problem solved! If my 77 with open headers can pass, then I believe that anything else could with the right inspector!!
So with that said and hopefully we're straight on that.......what do you have to lose? You won't like it.....then you can get a Flow Master installed and be happier !!
