Pulled a Dodge last night........

Well it was my buddy's birthday party, and his sister invited a friend over from out of town. He has a new 6.7 that he thought was making 550 hp. Basically what he had done (because I did ask) was removed the emmisions, and chipped it, and his clutch was slipping, so he was sure he was making 550, and was sure that the southbend 550 I suggested wasnt enough. (I think thats what mech runs). So a little while goes by, and my friend asked me what the scoop was. I told him, and that I figured he may be making 400 at the tires, if his programming was good, and that if he wanted to hook up, Id pull him backwards. So he started playing instigator, and sure enough an hour later, the kid went out and started his truck, and said he had to go "warm it up" and take it for a drive. Me, I just took my front tires down to 30psi, from 65psi. He comes back, we line up, and I told him, about three more times. "You dont have to do this you know." Oh but he was certain he was going to pull me. Little did he know I weighed about 2500# more, and have a detroit in the rear. But I cant say I didnt warn him. We got in, I set the tension on the line, and he started to pull, I waited a second, then got on the throttle. Pulled him about a quarter of a mile, backwards . And at first he wanted best of 3 pulls! And I swear I would have let off if I didnt think he wasnt still trying. After our first pull, he didnt want to pull me anymore haha. Too bad, good times. I warned him about that. He goes "ten feet and you know if you won, why didnt you stop??!?" I just replied, well it felt like you might have been still trying, and this is the farm lane rules, Ive been pulled backwards farther, back in the jeep days. Poor poor kid. Just never new what hit him.

Haha like I said, I told him three times, he didnt have to hook up. I think he will think twice before jumping so easy on trying to pull someone again! Expecially without knowing all the details.

It was dark, and about 11 or midnight. If I could get him to do it again, I surely would get video, but he just wont hook up again. I even offered pavement! Haha

Haha there might have been a little of that involved. But not on his end, untill AFTER the pull. Apparently at that point, he needed some of that haha. And then I did remind him, that my truck has 184k on it

GOOD JOB!!! I'm surprised he didn't blame it on the clutch you suggested. I have a neighbor with a 6.0 Chevy he's always bragging about. When I get tired of listening to him all I have to say is "Let's hook em up". This guy tried to tell me my DP Tuner doen't increase my torque. He said "It is all abut bore and stroke". I said , "Well I got you there too, don't I". Yeah, he's got gravy for brains.

When the PSD was first introduced ('95?) Ford filmed a commercial at Daytona of the Ford pulling TWO Dodges backwards. Chrysler threatened a lawsuit and the commercial was never aired. Anyone else heard of this?

I used to work in Wyoming and one night I replaced my boots... at lunch the next day one blew off b/c I didn't tighten it enough. So I'm under the hood of my truck when TWO of the Chevy (gasser) guys come rolling in and they start talking trash (CIO & another manager).

I said "I tell you what... let me tighten this up and I'll get out my tow chains. I'll hook up to BOTH of you at the same time and we'll see who pulls who backwards. You win, I sell the truck and split the cash to you both. I win.... I get your trucks."

They shutup and walked inside without another word said. My buddy Terry just BUSTED out laughing. Lots will talk trash, but SOME know when to shutup

I will search YouTube for that video.

I have a buddy with a Dodge Hemi and he's always talking smack about how bad @ss his truck is with it's "Royal Purple, nose to tail and a throttle body spacer". I can always shut him up with "Let's run 'em"......

doesnt he even know that a diesel ESPECIALLY ONE WITH MORE CUBIC INCHES would have more torque than a gasser he is right about 1 thing bore and stroke will increase torque thats why youd win hands down
great job mike

I personally feel that the most overlooked thing with pulling back to back is wich truck is higher.

If you have a PSD, and then a dodge, the dodges usually have higher rear bumpers, so when you pull, the dodge lifts weight off the fords rear tires.

Even the old 7.3 IDI diesels have more tourqe than newer gas motors.

Youre lucky no trucks got damaged during this fun.......

Before I turned my GTO into a track only race car I had more damn fun with the SS Chevelles with the 454's and that foolish "Cowl Induction" they used to have. I had some tell me that there is no way a Pontiac is going to blow the doors off of a cowl induction system 454. I have stated in other threads that I used to win enough money to nearly support my family, but I had to do it 7 nights a week. For some damn reason it was a lot more fun than my day job.
