well, almost...but I have a dumb question: how do I get my passenger kick panel to come off and splice in the red wire? I got everything mounted today, but I'm not so good with electrical stuff...def zapped my dad in the process of getting my CB in last week. oops
The kick panel is held on by a push pin in the middle and the forward most screw that holds the thresh hold trim in. Remove those two and you should be able to work it out of there.
ok, got that far...so anyone want to take a shot at explaining to me in very simple, explicit terms how to connect the wires? I'm pretty sure I found the one for the lights (kinda smallish, near the front, black and brown wires going into the little box thing) behind the kick panel.
it's a Pacer kit, and the negatives are grounded to the mounting screws as per installation instructions with the kit. it came with a toggle switch to mount on the dash, but I'm lazy and I'd rather have the lights switch on and off with the headlights.
thanks in advance for bearing with all my "newbie" questions
The plug with the black and brown wire is the one you need. The brown wire is hot when the headlights are on and is the one you need to connect to the marker lights. If you brought both a hot and ground wire down from the roof you can also connect the black to your existing ground.
I want the lights to come on when I pull the headlight ****...only bringing down a hot wire...grounded to the mounting screws. what kind of connector am I going to need?
This thread makes me want these lights too. =\
Dangit.
I would also do what tim says for your situation
Personally, I would wire it all on its own circuit with its own fuse and dash switch.
I love switches and togles!
Hmm, they are 12 volt DC. I could put them on a dimmer......
*sigh*
if you put them on another circuit I would always forget to turn them on or off. BTW superduty lights look and work great on these trucks if you are adding them. They are a bit more work but it pays off. I wish my truck didn't come with lights so I could add the SD lights.

lol, like I said, I'm lazy, I'd forget too! $50 for Pacer kit...go for it if I can figure this out being coached through the forum...oughta be a simple evening project for anyone else; I'm a slow learner!
hopefully I'll get home with some daylight left tomorrow and try this...I think I might even have butt connectors without having to bum any off my buddies!
