'74 Fuel Leakage

My '74 F100 has a fuel leak.It is leaking from the vent tube under the filler pipe.It has a clamp on the rubber hose and looks like black tape wraped around the vent hose onto the filler pipe.I took it loose and checked for holes in the rubber tube but found none.I have the correct gas cap.Would the vent tube be clogged? Thanks for the input guy's.

My truck had this issue when I first got it. It turned out to be the vent tube hose. I replaced it and have had no further issue. My truck only leaked when it got over 2/3 full. Does yours leak constantly or just when full?

The black tape is wrapped around the filler and vent hoses (in two locations) for a reason. If that black tape isn't on there, the vent hose could collapse...that why Ford put it there.

If you have a fuel leak coming from this location, and you have the evaporative emission system on your truck, the fuel vapor valve in the tank could be defective.

With evap emission, the gas cap is NON-vented.
