Edelbrock Carb Issues
I've been reading the forums here for quite some time, but this is my first post. I have a 76 F100 with a 390 and an edelbrock carb. I recently converted the carb to electric choke and I'm having trouble getting things to work correctly. Here's what happens. When first starting the truck, the carb works great. It starts right away and idles nice. A quick tap on the pedal and the fast idle comes down to "normal" idle. BUT (there's always a but) the truck won't start after that. The choke valve closes all the way and floods the carb. I have to manually open the choke valve for things to work again. I think this problem has something to do with the fast idle, but I'm not sure. There's current at the new choke, the choke seems to be set properly according to the instructions. I'm baffled. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Secondly, you may want to make sure the choke spring is actually engaging the tang on the linkage, inside the choke cap housing.
