I just installed a darale cooler with an electronic fan and temperature relay. It looks to be the biggest cooler that will fit behind the grille, and I did do a minor amount of trimming to get of in there. And I had to make some custom brackets to mount it. I havent takenit off road yet, so I don't know yet how well the fan works, but it hasn't even hit the threshold (160-is degrees F) at which the fan turns.

That said, if you are planning ok doing any off-roading that involves low speeds, a fan cooler may be a good investment. Otherwise it's a bit frivolous.

Sounds like a great idea, My only concern would be Serious mud getting into the fan motor and blade, should this be a concern?

yeah you can tell that it's just a very high quality product. Things not made in china are getting more and more difficult to come by. I'll post some pictures of the install when I get the chance.

you might want to cover it in some sort of removable fine mesh or something like that.

well it would cost you a few bucks for the hose. The only way to know if it's effective is to install a temperature gauge in the transmission and monitor the temp. or, is somebody else on this forum reccomended to me, use an infrared thermometer on the pan to check the temp.

These trucks dont come factory with a trany temp gauge, so how do you go about putting a mechanical one in? pan in line? What is the recommended operating temperature?

Thanks!
