My truck has been sqeaking in the front end for a while but its starting to get worse. When going over bumps slowly, you can hear the front end sqeaking. What could be causing this.
What should I be looking for and checking? Can I spray the ball joints if that is the problem with some lube?
my truck was doin this and i sprayed everything down with white lithium grease. by everything i mean everything that could make a squeaking noise and it hasnt squeaked since and that was back in Feb.
squeak on mine ended up being the lower control arm bushings, cost to replace bushings including labour was about the same as putting in new HD control arms so thats what i did and haven't heard a squeak since.
Most of the time i find the lower or upper ball joints squeaking. If the rubber boot that protects the joint is still intact napa or carquest sell a hyperdermic needle with a grease fitting attached poke hole in boot with needle and grease away. I have had some luck with that if boots are torn then the only option is to replace them. Hope that helps and good luck.

yeah mine is doing the same thing but it is doing it in the rear end too. when i stop you can hear it squeak the worst. just wondering if this will work for the rear end too?
I had bad squeaking from the front passager side whenever I went over bumps. It was coming from the lower ball joint. I jacked up the truck, removed the passanger wheel and tried to move the hub and I noticed I had alot of play in the lower ball joint.
I bought grease fitting lower ball joints for $130 for 2. When I took off the hub on the passenger side, I noticed the upper ball joints were slightly loose too so I replaced them too while I was at it ($230 for two). The driver's side lower ball joint wasn't too bad and the upper was tight. Took me 5 hrs to do the job following racerguy's step by step instructions although mine is a 2WD so I have no front axle.
