Ignition coils
(Or am I wrong in thinking that it's a problem?)
I thought that it might be just Ford -- both the COP and the waste spark systems seem to be reported fairly often on various forums -- but I suspect that other manufacturers might also have this problem.
I don't think it's the miles -- even though 250K + trucks are common on FTE-- the ignition stuff I read about often happens much earlier.
It just seems odd. You would think that COP systems, for sure, would be more reliable since they do much less work. I know that today's ignitions have a lot more energy than the old point systems. But we've had some high power systems for a while, and the coil failures seem to show up on some of the newer models.
As I say, maybe I'm just full of uh 'stuff', but I read about coil failures fairly often.
Comments?
Thanks,
