i live in phx az and am constantly in the dirt as i own a construction company. i took my job 1 in for the radiator problem and my service adviser pointed out small scratches in my drivers window on the outside. he told me when it got worse to bring it in and they would replace both the window and window stripping... that it was a defect so anyways my truck is leaking oil around the timing plate so i took it in... just thought i would share that if anybody else has noticed deep vertical scratches in the drivers window they will replace the glass and stripping btw i love my my tuck even though its had a couple of small problems... well worth the money and i cant wait for the banks six gun...

 

I have had that problem since the first week I owned it, what dealership did u use?

 

They have been doing that warranty repair on both front windows since the 2003 models that I am aware of.

 

This is addressd in a tsb from ford on the 08 trucks, any windows with this issue will be replaced along molded weather striping and tint on the window if you have it.

 

Do you have the tsb#?

 

Same problem with my '07.

The stripping opens out and creates a spot for dirt build up which eventually scratches the window as it opens or closes.

This article supersedes TSB 06-18-2 to update the vehicle model years, vehicle application and parts information. ISSUE:

Some 2005-2008 F-Super Duty, 2005 Excursion, 2003-2007 Expedition and 2007 Navigator vehicles may exhibit outer window molding weather strip assembly warping around the lower front window channel. The condition may be described as a warped or loose outer window molding. There may be a pucker or gap between the window beltline molding weather strip assembly and the window glass. This may result in dirt and debris collecting between the molding and the glass, and therefore scratching the side-window glass.

I noticed my 06 has this problem quit badly but Its out of any factory warranty on the truck itself just the engine has it. My 02 never did what did they do diffrent from 02 to 03 that caused that and after years and years of it doing this youd think they would figure something out and fix the problem. Im gonna have my windows 5% tint all the way around soon anyways and will never see the scratches anymore

My 05 X has this same problem. So I take it they will not fix this out of Warranty?
