Hi guys! I thought I would share with you a 56 concept project I would like to do when I finish my 53. I want to build a full on show truck. With the experience I obtain from the 53 and a little bit help from my friend I think this 56 project could see the light of day. If I can find a 56 at the right price. Firstly this truck will be all Ford except for the front end, maybe another Jag or a Heits, something in that line. A 351 fuel injected Windsor from a aussie falcon. Most of the stuff would be electronic and so forth. The colour code would be in the lines of sample picture below. This is what I have gathered up so far I'll post more comes available. Cheers Paul
Paul , when it comes time to buy a '56 have a talk to Scrape , last time i was up at his place he had no shortage of 56's and he'll also be able to help you out with most parts.
Also he does a bloody nice chassis for the effies with a jag front.
I know you guys mean well with the six cylinder option. How many show trucks out there that have one trophies are sixes. You just don't get a look in if you are not running some sort of V8. If you where looking for fuel economy for a daily driver yeah I agree. But a full on show truck..nah! Cheers
Bill, going to Western Nationals has certainly caught me in the ford truck fever. At the start I have always liked the 48-56 ford trucks. It took me nearly ten years before I could own one, (the 53). Now I have experienced the aura of seeing these magic trucks I want more...hehehehe. But I have to be realistic about it all. I am going to have fun driving around in my 53, take it to a few shows (no entensions of winning), going on runs with other hot rod clubs and so forth. Find a 56 that is the right price and build something that will say wow!
The cammer is nice, but very difficult to come by and costly if you find one. These guys are on the right track though if you looking for show vehicle. Engines are a big part of a nice truck. If you see a blower/ supercharger with a couple of carbs on top, even better. Polished aluminum is biggy also. Don't know much about a fuel injected 351 W in a Aussie falcon? Sounds like a interesting engine though??? Do they still make Falcons?
Ed they still make falcons here. They run some a fuel injected motor, I think it is still a windsor. It's a 5.9 litre V8 with lots of hp. I'll find some specs for you to have a look at.
Here Ed are some features of the current Falcon.
290kw/520nm 'Boss 290' 5.4L 4V V8 engine
6 speed gearbox manual, 5 speed auto
limited slip diff
18" wheels
