I have a 94 f150 xlt extended cab and about the only time i cna use the ac without having overheating problems is when im going 70 on the highway or when its too cold outside to need it. In the past i replaced my water pump, thermostat and radiator(for different reasons). I cant use my ac at low city speedscause the temp shoots up in no time. SInce i cna use it on the highway fine, ive narrowed it down to my fan and clutch being bad. My fan is all bent anyway so im changing it out for a new one and the cluthc may also get replaced unless someone has a better idea of what might be wrong here. Also my heater doesnt work, it only shoots cold air when i turn it on....:-( thanks anyone for advice on what parts to get and info on the problems!!
Sounds like you're low on coolant or plugged up (radiator or heater core), or the thermostat is sticking--a surprisingly high percentage of those are bad from the factory.
If your fan is bent and you have doubts about the clutch (mine failed) you can always convert to electric fans. The electrics work great at low road speeds. Check the t'stat, belt, and radiator cap.

Think you are pretty much on track. Sounds to be an air flow problem. Maybe fan clutch, clogged cooling fins in rad and/or condenser. Bu definatley sounds to be air flow problem.
First thanks to all of you for the reponses, I was considering electric fans but it turned out to be too pricy and my truck is really high mileage 300k! i ordered a new fan from flexalite and will be getting a new thermal clutch. Now as for the heater problem, both hoses going into the fire wall do have coolant flowing through them, it sound like the fan blows though but only cold air comes out....

For the heat,, check to make sure the heater core doesn't have trash around it. And that you blend door is working.
ok...now for the question of the day.....how exactly so i get to hte heater core to check it? Also i noticed something that may be rellevant, the switch that changes thhe air from cold to hot is not like the otehr switches. The other ones do a "click" when you change to another setting and this particular switch seems to want to move back to the position your moving it from. It wil stay were u move it to, but it takes some effort, not alot but its not normal either. Thanks again for the help!
