My friend has an 2000 Expedition. I think that he was able to turn his off by reading the manual that came with the vehicle and doing some steps in the programming. Sorry I cannot be more specific. If you do not have a manual, maybe the dealership could give you the directions.
The switch is in the latch mechanism.

Isn't there a chime box located either under the dash, or under the seat. My experence base is with older vehicels, but there usually is this stray live wire under the seat that clearly mounts into a box, and when you connect, a buzz or a chime, you scream ack and proply return it to it's disconnected condition.
I imagine they could be total foo foo heads and mount the chime on an important PC board, which would require dismounting and desoldering... or if you really adventurious, create a system based on 555 timmer from radio shack and a relay, and set a delay on the chime, 5 seconds / 10 seconds / 20 seconds. But I can't imagine them putting in a chime even if soldered on couldn't be removed without affecting the holistic operation of the vehical, or if, get the specs on the load of the chime and replace with a small light or led.
Or alternativly speaking.... isn't this just a line running from your ignition switch? It was this way with older fords fords.
I have some battery backup units that have loud buzzers on them in the event the power goes out... These are soldered on units that are just too noisy for words. I applied tape to the top of them. Muffled it down extreamly.
