my prayers go out to the survivors and the families who lost loved ones.

the report said in the 5 th paragraph " The bus was operating illegally when it blew a tire, smashed into a guardrail and tipped over."

there is nothing else supporting this so I wander if it is a misprint and should say driving legally?

I believe they have now stated that the bus company lost their carrier license earlier in the day due to safety violations.

Now a 15th victim has passed and the local news is saying the blown tire...had issues.

That sucks to hear. The bus company might be in a little bit of trouble over this one.

Check the latest wire stories, bus co shut down for inspection issues, reopens under new name, license pending, retread fails on front axle of a bus. (retreads not legal on steer axle according to article)

15 dead in effort to save a few hundred dollars.....

I missed the retreads on the steer tires, definatly illegal everywhere that I know of.

They better get in trouble for that.

They are only illegal on passenger buses. Tractor trailers can run them if they stay within a certain distance of their garaging local. WHO WOULD RUN THEM THO??? Im not the greatest person in the world but Im not gonna put my life at risk over a tire!

this whole thing happened about ten miles from me, and the death toll has now reached 17. this is a very tragic event and it has the whole community in shock, I personally know some of the responders and they are affected by this a lot. they had over 18 med flights, almost every ambulance in the neighboring four counties, and had fire depts from neighboring cities standing guard at Sherman's fire stations....The highway was shut down for 26 or so hours afterwards. again very, very sad. All caused by being cheap and using a retread on a steer axle.... For more news go to www.kxii.com .
