I was getting a vibration throughout the truck (noticed most in the seats and steering wheel) starting at 60 km/hr and staying right through to 100 km/hr. 4 new tires were installed in September 07 and only had approx 10,000 km on them. Because I had extended warranty, I took it to the dealer and was told I had 3 tires out of round. Just put on 4 brand new tires....still have the vibration!!! Checked things out a little bit further on my own. The truck rear was put on jack stands. With the truck runnning you could feel the same vibration on the top of the dash. Removed both wheels, problem still there. Removed both brake drums, problem still there. Went even further and removed the drive shaft, and lo and behold the problem is still there! Also checked with the truck in neutral and could still pick up the vibration on the dash but not as amplified.
I am thinking the problem could be either the front pulley vibration damper or the torque converter.
Not getting anywhere with this problem. Anyone experienced anything similar?
I had a speed specific vibration on a 97 F150 I had Drove me and the Dealer nuts, Dealer repalced alot of stuff with no help. Turns out it was a bent pully on ps pump only found it when the pump started leaking. Pull your sep belt and try that.
Good Luck
Thanks Gasman6674, I'll try that and see what happens. Would that cause enough of a vibration to be felt in the seats and steering wheel? If I hadn't eliminated the rear wheels, one would think it was the tires out of balance.
