What the heck...something missing?

Hi Guys,

I am stuck on a problem. I have a 1998 Ford Expedition with the 5.4L engine.

While re-installing the intake manifold, I noticed that the intake manifold does not competely cover the surface of the passenger side engine cyclinder.

Upon examining the intake manifold, there are no holes to screw the manifold into the hole on the cylinder surface. This attached picture will make more sense. Thanks for any help you may have!

Has anybody here ever worked on a 1998 expedition intake manifold? Somebody must have ran into this issue.

The intake manifold does not fit properly on the entire engine head. The holes all align up properly, but the end closest to the passenger firewall does not completely cover the engine block.

The RED circle in the picture are the 2 parts on the engine block that does not have coverage from the intake manifold. I hope you understand what I am talking about.

I don't recall any other part/parts in that location. So if I mount the intake manifold, the circled area will stay exposed. Please help.

Thanks
