I'm was fighting the same problems with my valvestems. They are all cracking and going bad. I ended up picking up 4 new stems, took the tire off and replaced them. You can do this repair yourself without tire machines. take a soapy water solution/ more soapy then watery. spray on the outside bead of the tire, take your core out of the valve stem and bust the bead with a sledge hammer (gently). put your knee on the tire and flex it over and pull the stem out. Make sure you dont let the back side of the stem get loos in the wheel. After i installed my new stem, i sprayed a little starting fluid in the tire and hit it with a match. That will seat the bead. i aired the tire up a couple of times with out the core in the stem to get the fumes out of the wheel.
is that 41 psi per the sidewall rating or fords rating on the doorpost.
The 41 psi pressure is on the sidewall of the Hankook tires that came on the truck. The Doorpost setting calls for 38 psi.
The local dealer is replacing these this afternoon at 2:00PM under warranty.
I bought my 07 used this year. All the valve stems in my rims have been replaced before I even knew there was a stem problem. I put winter tires on the steel rims and whenever I put new tires on, the stems are changed at the same time. Seems like cheap insurance to me, something I've done for years and it's never failed me yet (unless I happen to get bad stems too).
If you can get valve stems replaced for $10.00 each, labor must be way cheap there.
You can go to les Schawb and they will only charge you the cost of the stems. Being that they do free flat repair they don't charge for a tire dismount. So it should run you about 8.00 a tire when its all said and done.
