My 2005 Expedition with 33k miles died yesterday while I was driving down the road. Check Electronic Throttle Control came up on the display, and the engine just stopped running in the middle of the road dead! This is a major safety problem to say the least because I had no warning at all that any problem was developing. I had to push the truck to the side of the road and call for a tow. The truck was towed to the dealer who told me "I never heard of this problem"--I told him to check on the TSB 05-9-15, and that it seems that this problem occurs frequently in F150 and Expeditions according to many internet posts anyway.
Does anyone know about this problem? How about whether it should be covered by the emission warranty? The truck is 42 months old now with 33k miles. After 24 hours the dealer called to tell me that they need to replace the throttle control body assembly, but they don't have one available til maybe tomorrow. They quoted me $575 to fix the truck.
