I know there was a post about sputtering but has anyone had the truck sputter when in the throttle heavy at low rpms and once the throttle is relaesed and reapplied the same its gone? along with loads of black smoke when under the sputter. the truck already has a black smoke under a low rpm load but it gets worse when the sputtering starts.
Your truck should not blow black smoke if it is stock. The somke would be a DPF problem. What is the build date of your truck?. If its an early job one there were some injectors issues and some chafing issues on some of the wireing harness that caused the issues your having.

Yes. Mine is white smoke, at least until recently when the truck started blowing black smoke all the time. I started keeping a log and mine seemed to occur when I was in the rain, and had stopped at a light and then turned left and accelerated, (Maybe coincidence but there it is).
Had my smoking DPF replaced and it has not done it since in the rain. Either way, get your DPF replaced. Mine runs better now though it seems to go into regen a lot more but for much shorter periods of time.
