'68 FMX Issues

Alright so here's the list

Leaks from the selector shaft.
Won't Shift out of first.

If i manually shift it, it will go into 2nd but it wont shift on it's own.

Yes it has the modulator hose. I think the kickdown lever might be messed up a little bit, so tell me if that could cause it. I ran it without a modulator hose for a couple weeks (just around the block 3 or 4 times) i don' think that would bust the modulator or tear up the low/reverse clutches would it?

Anyone know how hard it is to replace the o-ring on the selector shaft? My guess is it's a real pain in the a**.

Thanks guys.

Replacing the lever seal can be a major PITA.
The valve body must come off for starters.

As for the shifting.

Having a hose is not good enough.
Do you have vacuum at the modulator?

The kd linkage must rerutn freely and not stay stuck down.

Alright thanks. I don't have the kickdown rod on, i guess i should have specified that. I haven't really checked for vacuum, but i will. It leaks a ton from the selector shaft, if i run it, it doesn't leak but if it sits a lot comes out. At first there was a pan leak with it, but i replaced the pan and gasket and that stopped leaking but the selector shaft still does. Anyone got an FMX laying around? haha
