fuel gauge
I filled my tanks up tuesday, and they are still pretty much at full as of sunday, and I usually go through a half a tank a week.
I'm thinking something is wrong with the gauge/wires. I did some searching in this forum, and it says I need to test the wires by grounding them and if the gauge goes to full it's bad. But I can't find out where the wires are in my Haynes manual. Any help?
I couldn't find anything on how to check the gauge its self, can anyone help me with that?
Thanks.
I've posted the instructions for this test at 20 times.
Maybe have a look through the other posts as they all work the same way.
Look for "gauges don't work" or something like that *in the search function*.

What I can't find is where exactly the wires are, i'm a newb so saying that they are in the sending units doesn't help so much. What is a "cotter pin"?
Thanks, I appreciate it.
A cotter pin is the pin that holds hub on a wheel.
It goes through a castle nut to hold everything together on adjusting front wheel bearings.
I suggest these because they expand plus they hold inwards or outwards.
The sending units are usually on top of the fuel tank.
The other way is to pull the instrument cluster but by-passes a possible wiring problem.

Doing Both though:
This also gives you a chance to clean off the contacts which in itself
may fix your problem.Connections under the truck have a tendency to corrode.

So I must have been getting some sweet gas mileage or something! Thanks for the help though.
