The assembly lines that were retooled to accomodate the production of the new F-150 09' model are doing what right now? Sitting idle? Or can these lines be reconfigured in a couple days notice?

I don't think Ford's lines have the ability to be reconfigured quickly--certainly not into lines that make, say, small cars. So the truck assembly lines are probably just sitting there while dealer lots are still full of '08 model trucks.
I saw a tv ad today where Planet Ford in Houston was offering 50% off MSRP on all F150s. If so, the factory must be offering the dealer incentives to make up for loss of revenue.

I wish they would do that around here, I'm certain that I could convince the boss into letting me have one at that price.
Instead, I'm getting an '09 Focus in the spring and I have to wait until 2010 to get my new rig.

Read the fine print on this offer. This is a lease with the residual being 50% of the MSRP. You won't own the truck after you've paid 50% of the MSRP.
I hope the 08's sit there a while so I can get my hands on one pretty cheap. I am praying that they will dang near be giving them away towards the end of next year. I have decided I am going to hold out on the 09 f150 and wait for the new motors coming out in the later years.

It depends on what you mean by "quickly." Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant was the company's first built as flexible from the ground up. It can build nine different models on three different platforms. Other plants have been getting upgrades at model changeovers to make parts of them flexible, especially the body shops. DTP was pretty much tooled up for the new F150 over Christmas last year, since with a flexible plant you don't retool, you tool up for a new model alongside the current model. But it's not an overnight process either way.

Not sure that will be a good thing. Just read that FORD will offer a 4 cylinder 2.5L with "Eco-Boost" twin turbo direct injection. 260hp and 290 ft/lbs.

This weekend is the first in about 2 weeks that I have seen trucks in the lots by the plant. All 09 models so i would assume that they were switching the lines from the 08's sto the 09's. Should start seeing trucks at the dealers soon.
