Ok, so I did some searching and went to the links to vanpelts etc, but I still couldn't find out what this transmission is from, Please help.
number stamped on the top of bellhousing (older trans with half bell cast integral to trans) number * 99t double arrow II9241 * the I really stands for 1 right? I didn't see any reference to 99t on Vanpelts
here is a picture of it,
this throwout bearing is about 3 1/2" diameter and does anyone know if the throwout bearings came in larger diameter size in the later years? like 52,53 and where you could order new ones?
It is a 9-1 or possibly a 9-7?
plus on the top of trans same side (passenger side) has (BB7222 DG&M) stamped
then drivers side has OIT-7006 stamped on the side

The O1T-7006 is the casting number. It could be either a 1940 or 1950 4 speed from a truck...half ton which the rear mount indicates. I don't know what the 47 and earlier trans mounts look like, but the 48-52 F1's have the half circle like yours. Being the bell is cast into the case, I suspect it is an older one. But the mount tells me otherwise. If it is a 3 speed, I believe the casting number is different than O1T. I could be wrong though. The number on top of the bellhousing is usually the VIN code. Can't tell ya much more than that without tearing into it, IE helical or spur gears, etc...
Thanks Havi,
I'm going to see if I can get the shifter broke loose so I can see if its a 3 or 4 speed before I contemplate tearing it apart. Although it would be a learning experience to take it apart (as someone else mentioned earlier on a different post), specially since I have never had a trans apart before! I removed my T18 no it was a T90 (not original) trans and tranfer case on my 45 GPW but had a shop rebuild it about 12 years ago.
Going out now to spray some more pb blaster around the shifter connection.
Thanks again
Josh
