Ok I can't see out of my windows and my paint is now "rough". My vehicle sat in a sprinkler I didn't know about while I was away and now has hard water deposits all over it. Anybody got any good products or home brews that will take it off. I need to remove it from glass and paint and chrome.
Glass, vinegar and newspaper. For the rest, I'd start with a clay bar. If the clay bar doesn't do the trick you will need to advance to polishes.
agree with the clay bar....but (and i think ReAX figured it was implied) make sure you wash first....hell, i'd wash with Blue Dawn and then clay...make sure you wax well after. key is to get that stuff off now. my sister in law lived in an apartment complex in MD and the sprinklers there trashed their cars....i've never been able to rehab their cars.
I have hard water at my house too. For the spots on the window i use a green scratch pad that is used for dishes. Soap it up good and lightly rub the windows. It will remove all hard water spots and no scratches.
I havent had luck with the 50/50 vinegar deal, What got mine off was 000 steel wool, no marks or swirls and got the marks off, my advise is to be gentle and dont put a ton of pressure on the pad.
What about CLR? If you dilute it. I don't have a bottle handy so I'm not sure if it's safe for paint. Also, I have used this white powder called "Bar Keepers Friend" found in Albertsons and it works great on my shower doors (glass). It dissolves the calcium build up and wipes right off. I don't know if it would leave scratch marks on the paint, it's a very fine powder.
