I had my cb in the truck for about 2 years and about a month ago I put in a Sirius Sat. Radio and ever since my cb has always made static no matter where I set the dials. I put the 2 antennas as far away from each other as possible but didnt seem to help. Right now both my sat. radio and cb are both running off the 12v power output. Trying to find time to run my cb directly to the battery hoping it might help? Any sugguestions would be great! thanks.
More info on your sat radio setup will help too. If you have a wireless FM modulator, it is probably talking over your coax. The modulator should be minimum power, so upgrading your coax to RG-8U or RG-8U mini would give you much better shielding. Keep the power wires from both units far away from the coax of the CB antenna and keep the sat and CB antenna wires a couple of feet apart. You may also want to make a couple of small loops with your coax near the CB.
all my sat radio wires are at the front of the cab and the cb wires are at the back. I am hoping to get working on this tomorrow if I can get the afternoon off. Im going to run it to the battery and try your ideas....thanks
