Grrrr my turn for a bad morning. My 05 F250 Diesel decided to take the morning off on me. Go to start it up and all that happens is the vacuum pump keeps running.
Had to get it towed to a stealership for TLC; will be a very expensive tow job because I had a work trailer hooked up and they had to tow the whole rig somewhere to drop the trailer before continuing on to the dealer.
So.. anyone have any ideas what could be the problem? or what the repair bill will be?
Engine turned over and coughed a bit, but not enough to get going. My first thought would have been fuel pump, but the non-stop running of the vacuum pump is the only clue that anything is wrong. Is the vacuum pump used for anything other than ESOF and Defrost control?

I believe on a diesel those are the only things that vacume is used for. Also in 05 there is a fitting on the HPOP that known for leaking oil and not building up enough pressure for the injectors to work properly, that could be a possibliliy or the HPOP itself could be bad. Then there is the ICP and IPR that control the oil pressure to the injectors which could be bad. Since you have it at the dealership and those things should all be covered by warranty we will wait to find out from your reply.
Well..finally got it back from the dealership. They replaced the IDM/FICM (Injector Driver Module/Fuel Injector Control Module). Seems all is well again. Evidently they pulled engine codes and noticed some from the turbo, so they cleaned it up as well
