Diesel Emissions testing..

I live in SE Wisconsin. Last Friday I was picking up my registration and plate stickers. The lady working there was talking to the fellow in line in front of me. She said they are going to start testing diesels 06 and newer...How will this work with the DPF deletes????

it won't work....better keep the DPF handy! Here in NV they have been sniffing diesels for awhile now. Gotta keep the cat handy for those with cat deletes.

Do what I did and move to Dodge or Jefferson county. I thought I heard they did not renew the contract to do emissions testing for gassers? That would explain why they want to test diesels, gotta keep spending the money. The emissions people must be Dole campaign contributors.

Checks during yearly inspections, and if a DOT worker happens to see your 08 rolling coal down the highway, be prepared to be pulled over and pay a hefty fine!

I just ordered my spartan with dpf delete pipe. Does it blow black smoke if you keep the cat on?

If the DPF is removed, it will smoke. Your best bet to staying low will be to not put in stacks, and get a low smoke tune.

I don't know about that....a DOT worker?? Maybe a inspection roadside or a station liscenced for sniffing... but any old worker? why don't they follow all the smoking firetrucks and trash trucks and issue tickets glore.

Soon it will be illegal for any automobile to have smoke out the tailpipe....

Because most fire trucks and dump trucks are older and not equipped with a DPF. It isn't hard to tell between the 08 super duties in the 06/07 ones. I think police can pull you over too if they suspect your running home heating oil as well.

Home heating oil.....they're the cops , not the gestapo...look I don't want to pick a fight, but there should be no reason to be pulled over for a random inspection every time a cop sees a new truck pass him by.....there are stupid people who dump smoke and they deserve a violation ticket.

BTW, I see people token on joints driving thru town, where's the outcry about that smoke? Ya think the cops could bust them instead of looking for the 08 without a DPF

They wont stop every new truck that is going down the road smoking, but lately I've been seeing A LOT more tractor trailers and big pickups being pulled over

I live near the Sacramento CA area and what I am being told is in 2010 they are going to smog every 97-newer diesel pickup and they will have to have whatever equipment came on the vechile ie CAT or DPF. Not sure how this is all going to work or if it is true but that is what I am being told by the diesel shops. Not sure how the state/fed is funding this but time will tell.

if all this is true omg how boring will trucks of the future be. i feel disgusted already and this is just the beggining. when you say annual checks or watever do u mean u already do this .. becasue me and my brother and dad all have owned diesels and have never had them checked. is this something that will become mandatory?
