Got in the truck this morning fired her up and the climate control was blank. I dove to the coffee shop shut her down and when I fired her back up again it was working. Anyone else have this problem?
Yah, same thing has happened to me in mine since i've owned it (Feb 08). First time it happened to me i checked everything i could think of and couldn't figure it out. Got in it figuring i'd have to send it off to the dealer and turned the key and what do ya know it works, i can't figure it out.
Had it happen to me last week. I panicked. It's been in the 100's here and with a black truck,
no a/c is unacceptable. I was immediately thinking huge dealer bill, and then it came back
on. I was quite relieved, although I notice that my exterior temp gauge is acting funny now.
I have been told the climate controls have issues and will eventually go out completely. Mine also has done this once, intersting enough the only time i hear people having problems is when it is really hot out, must be heat oriented.
Known issue. There are some relays in the electronic climate control system that will get stuck. Usually shutting the truck off and restarting it, or turning the headlights on and off will get it to start working again. However, after a while it will stop working altogether and you will have to replace the unit. I recommend getting it replaced as soon as possible if you are under warranty as it is not a cheap part ($300+ if I remember right). Whenever it stops working just drive to the dealership and leave the truck running and have someone come out to see that it is dead. Chances are if you shut it off, it will start working when the guy comes out to look at it.
