Does anybody make a bracket for mounting just an alternator for racing applications? I run an electric water pump drive but need an alternator. This weekend I lost two classes in my car because the battery went dead. The charger could not keep up with demand because of the heat, had to let the water pump run a lot to keep the motor cool.
well, you would think since i work in a speed shop (HP Racing equipment) I would be able to find something....but, i just went through all of our catalogs, AND i called our supplier... apparently nobody makes brackets for bigblock Fords, for your application....it even puzzled my supplier...he said you will probably have to fab up something, or switch to a rear motor plate with chains on your motor mounts and find a OE unit....sorry i couldnt help....
I have been looking for the past couple of days with little luck. I figured with as many people running bbf that I would find something. I'm already running a mid plate but stock motor mounts are out of the question because of the massive headers and 2x3 steel tube frame. I think I'm going to buy a sbc mount, attach that to the motor plate then build a spacer to go between the dampaner and some pully probably a bbc, what ever I can get to fit the crank.
