LCD Rear Projection screen replacement

Anyone have any idea on the screen replacement cost of a 50" Panasonic LCD Rear Projection TV "PT50LC13-K"

One of the kids grabbed the all purpose cleaner and soaked down the screen on my tv, now at the bottom of the screen it has black marks , looks like a chromatography experiment, acted like a candle wick. It appears that the cleaner ate away part of the inside of the screen, looks like the same effect you get when you scratch the coating off the backside of a mirror...

Wondering if it's cheaper to just file it..... and buy another !

What a pain!. I would not waste money on a rear projection (even if it is Panasonic). There are some good deals on LCD 42" for less than $1,000. With a strong Canadian dollar it should be even less. Maybe mount it on the wall out of reach of the kids too.

Yea I wouldn't buy another that's for sure, But at the time the biggest LCD was 32" and a little steep in price for me, So choices were DLP, Plasma or LCD Rear.

LCD Rear projection seem to be nothing but junk you ask me at least my experience anyway, Lamps, Ballast, and Light engine have all been replaced with in the first 2 years of purchase, Warranty issues but still a pain in the *** none the less.

I just bought a 37" Panasonic LCD for the bedroom for $799 Cnd seems to be a good little set so far.

Seen a replacement screen online for $ 482 US , there's a deal lol......if Panasonic gives me a price in that range, I'll just toss this rear LCD and buy another real LCD...... or perhaps peel the covers off it and build me a front projection and buy a wall screen for the Rec room !

Kids will be kids , I could hang the TV outside at the top of the maple trees and the kids will still find a way to kill it, Man pay backs are a bitch !

Don't get me wrong I like Panasonic, I just bought another Panasonic product, but I think it's perhaps the overall design of the Rear projections in general regardless of the manufacturer that is the real issue , although Panasonic did have their issues for awhile with bulbs burning out prematurely and ballasts on a few specific models, seems heat was a big problem.
