Hey guys. Right now my gauge is saying i am getting around 12 miles per gallen. I have an 01 f-250 with 6" lift and 35" tires. I just bought the truck. is that correct or does the lift and tires throw that off? What is the fastest and cheapest way to gain better mpg.

There really is no cheap way. I guess the most cost effective is the 6637 air filter, then a 4" turbo back exhaust and a good performance tune, but now you're getting into money. Those 3 I listed should be good for about 4 mpg, maybe a little more, using my own experience.
You can do the 6637 fairly cheap, but after that it gets expensive. I've got the 6637 intake and 4" duals w/muffler and I get decent mpg... don't check it often because I rarely fill my 55 gallon tank.
Throw some gears in you diffs. if you don't alreay have 'em and it will help out alot. Also stay under 65mph.
Throw?? He asked for cheap, it's probably a 4x4 which means front and rear. Not everyone and their brother knows how to properly set them up, so forget "throwing" them in. That's a major project, not to mention not cheap.
Redford from the SD/HD forum says he dropped MPG's while towing with a bed cover on. I hate those things anyways.
Mine went up about .5MPG when I put the cover on. I use an UnderCover brand hard cover. I love it. I can put several thousand dollars worth of ski/snowboard gear in the bed, lock it all up, and nobody knows what's there, so me & my friends can stop for breakfast on the way up to the slopes and not worry about it. When I tow, it's a gooseneck, so it has to come off, but at 58lbs. it's not too heavy for one person, just a bit awkward, especially if it's windy.
Keep your speed down.
Keep your tires inflated properly.
Keep your truck aligned properly.
Take it easy when leaving from a stop.
Major project or not Fuel isn't cheap nowadays and with 35's the best fuel economy he's gonna get is from front and rear gears. Scrape, save, and do your self and the truck a favor, get some. If your brave and mechanically inclined do A LOT of research and asking around and set 'em up your self. My 2 cents.
