We installed a set of AC Delco slow-glow plugs (12V units for a 5.7 Olds diesel) in my buddy's '86 F250, they don't seem to work good as they take forever to heat up and even then truck still has hard time firing up. He just purchased 5 Motorcraft/Beru ZD1s, once we got the remaining 3 to complete the set the Delcos are coming right out.
I tried Autolite, before i joined this forum.
I was lucky, 2 of them stopped working within 2 months, was able to get them out without leaving the tips down there.
I replaced them with BERU plugs 3-4 years ago, and they are still working good....
i was looking at the heads off a 6.9 i was going to rebuild. It has beru glow plugs.
has any one come up with a way or adapter to use the spade glow plugs in a later model 7.3l with bullet tip connectors? i want to use them as my budget is tight but i dont want to cut the wires to make them work
I will say, I have Autolites in my truck, had them in for over a year with no problems , now I have a stuck injector and am pulling the heads...so maybe I will go find me some ZD 9 plugs.....just to be on the safe side
