I just bought some new Ford Racing valve covers for my 390 which are taller than the others I was using. I noticed I might have clearance issues on the side with the brake booster, maybe 1'' if I'm lucky. My original brake booster is about 12'' diameter and I'm wondering if I can replace it with one that is smaller in diameter. Or my other option is to remove the booster everytime I want mess with the valve covers. Any smaller ones available?
Well I had the same problem with my 390 and when we did it we got the cobra lemans valve covers from ford racin. Our biggest problem was the ac box not so much the booster. It was still too close to get the cover off so we just broke down and bought some chrome edelbrock ones. Also my booster is smaller than yours. We did replace it cause it was worn out but that was the same size. If you can find a 3/4 ton booster with the same sizehole in the fire wall it might work. Why do you need to take the covers off anyways.
