Bendix to Ford conversion?

Is it possible to change my bendix ps box over to a ford(saginaw) box easily??? i hate the bendix box...drips like crazy. and its really expensive to replace and they dont make seal kits for it... can i drop take out the bendix and drop in the ford? or is it a lot more complicated than that???

Thanks,
Dan

btw. 1969 F250 2WD, Automatic, 352ci FE

Yes you can. You will need to exchange everything as the two systems are completely incompatible. When I say everything, I mean gear, pump, steering column, hose/lines, and brackets.

You will do basically the same as if you didn't have power steering currently.

I'd chase down a 73-79 halfton and grab the ps and power disc brakes at the same time.

You could come out miles ahead. IMHO

1966/69 F100/250 2WD BENDIX Gearbox P/S Seal Kits

C6TZ3E500A .. Seal Kit-Complete Gearbox

C6TZ3E501A .. Seal Kit-Sector Shaft (inc. in complete kit)

C6TZ3E502A .. Seal Kit-Input Shaft (inc. in complete kit)

Obsolete Ford parts seller greensalescompany.com has all these kits: 800-543-4959.

NOTE: Early 1969 F100/250's have Bendix P/S, mid to late 1969 (and later) F100/250's have Ford P/S.

1969 F350's didn't offer Bendix P/S, only the Ford system was available.

Dan, Disregard the half ton in my last post. 76 was the last year the FE was used. Saginaw power steering from a 100/150-250 is the same. The Bendix gear is identical to the manual in size, some folk like to use it because it is. The Saginaw gear has the fluid lines on top and requires a setup matching shorter column. Most here feel the Saginaw system is far better and use it.

A seal kit could be a easy solution for the leaking.

No to just moving the column up 2 3/8" You can use the 73-79 column or you can shorten your column shaft if your skill level is high enough. Not an easy job.

Unless you already paid an arm and leg for that expensive borgenson shaft, which telescopes. I think. But correct me if I'm wrong.

Steering Shaft & Coupler Assy's were only used on 1966/79 4WD's.

Borgeson sells replacements for the original's which are obsolete and next to impossible to find NOS.
