Can anybody tell me the where the tire pressure sensor is located on a 2004 Mountaineer. Wife wont drive it and that means she wont go to work till I can get this issue corrected. Thanks
She is convinced that the tire will go flat because the pressure sensor says the tire is low, never mind the fact that is hasnt lost a pound of pressure. I am not sure is there is one sensor on each wheel or if there is some sort of mercury switch that sends a signal if there is a slight tip to the vehicle.
Wish I could help you with that problem, but my vehicles are older and don't have that feature. It is a good safety feature, though. Let us know what you find out about your problem and how you fixed it. It will probably be a standard feature on all cars and trucks soon and something we will all have to deal with.
attach a pressure sensor/transmitter to the vehicle's wheel inside the tire's air chamber. An in-car receiver warns the driver instantly if the pressure in any one tire falls below a pre-determined level.
Indirect Systems
use the vehicle's antilock braking system's wheel speed sensors to compare the rotational speed of one tire vs. the others. If one tire is low on pressure, it will roll at a different number of revolutions per mile than the other three tires, and alert the vehicle's onboard computer.
