changing rear view mirror
i am changing out the OE mirror for a billet mirror they dont come off like the old cars with an allen screw and slide off. i looked at the ford service manual for the procedure and it says you need a special tool to remove it. has anyone done this can you fill me in on the job.

Pull out on the bottom with a pick or small screwdriver while you push it upwards on the base. It's kinda tricky and I had to mess with mine a good 15 minutes before I figured out there was no set screw in it.

ford has a special tool to remove it. i got mine off with a .028 feeler guage. you have to file about a 1/8" off the side of it because its to wide. then just slide it in the hole in the bottom of the mirror.wiggle the mirror side to side wile pushing up on it. should pop right off.you can get the feeler guage at sears or any auto parts store for about 6 bucks.
