To check the voltage coming and going to the tps and other sensors, does the connector need to be plugged in and stick the meter probe in the back of the connector or into the wire? I really hate piercing wires, but it does not look like there is any other way.
You have the battery disconnected and the PCM (EEC) connector off of the computer when you test them right?
Also the 302/351 wiring diagram shows pin #43 has nothing connected to it, no pin there. Where does it go to on your truck?
The book I have shows the 300/6 is the only truck where pin #43 is used, "A/C/HTR CTRL ASSY" is shown for that pin on trucks with that motor.
Curious as to why its used on yours with the 351. Keep in mind my book has been wrong on wire color from time to time but the pinouts have always been right....up to now anyway.
danr1, I disconnected the battery and pulled the ecu connector off to test the resistance. I connected the battery and tried to test voltages with the ecu connector disconnected but none of them made sense (I suppose the terminals would need to be connected to the ecu to complete the circuits). And I don't know what pin 43 goes to either, I may need to do some research on that one.
netscaner, I have been afraid to run it any more until I find something burnt somewhere. I had it idling before when I fried the first computer. I have drove it several miles with the new one, but now that I have thought about it I am trying to not start it. I don't even leave the battery connected unless I am testing something.
I did test pins 20, 40, and 60 with the negative disconnected and they showed good. The only manual I have is the Haynes. The wiring diagram does not show a pin 43 for the 1992 model, but it does for the 1991. When I was calling around to junk yards looking for a computer, several of them told me from the numbers I gave them from the ecu that it was a 1991 model. Yet the title says 1992. It has a build date of 8/91.
I am going to test the tps as you all have described. It may be a few days before I have time again. I certainly appreciate all the help.

The Ford Wiring Diagrams for the 351 in 1992 show that pin #43 is the A/C Panel Input and the wire color is Purple (may look brown). The date does not mean that much as most of the truck computers over lap one or two years in dates.
You just have to make sure they have the same Program code and they can have different part numbers with the same program code.
Even if it is from the same year & make, make sure the program code is the same or you will have problems.
It is supposed to be the same program code. I thought the "A2Z" number meant something but no one I called cared about that number. They said the last two letters (CA) was the program code. Anyway, everything runs perfectly for several minutes until something goes hay-wire.

If the replacement does not have the A2Z program code it will not run right.
