Exhuast Question

I am looking to upgrade my downpipe and exhaust.Heres my question.Does anybody know of a 4" exhaust that is close to stock sounding?I am not looking for a loud sounding system, just looking for a little more power. Can I get a quiet 4" exhaust or am I dreaming?
What does everybody recomend?I found a Diamond Eye system with the downpipe for $300 and free shipping.Any thoughts?

Thanks,John

most, if not all aftermarket powerstroke exhausts have a "straight through" glasspack styled muffler, this will not be anywhere near as quiet as stock. they are not that bad as to attract police attention though. i do beleive flowmaster has a chambered muffler for our trucks but it will be a little more for that kit.

what you may want to do is search ebay. there is a company that sells straight pipe exhaust kits. you could get one of those and order just a chambered muffler from somewhere else but my recomendation is find another truck in your area with the typical aftermarket exhaust system and get a feel for the sound.

Ditto on finding another truck close by. I didn't notice much in cab change when I put on my 4" straight pipe. Outside I couldn't really tell ya, haven't had anyone but me drive it so I can hear

not exactly the same as in person but it gives you an idea, all of these of my truck are with no muffler, they all have a 3 inch downpipe, the first 2 are 4 inch straight pipe, the second is five inch straight piped, and the last is 6 inch stacks.

YouTube - exhaust
YouTube - 7.3 cold start

I have the Diamond Eye 4" and it isn't that loud. It is acutally pretty quiet compared to the trucks around here running stock with no muffler or 4" with no muffler. Mine seemed only a little louder than stock. You will be happy with the 4" Diamond eye. I was. Any 4" is going to be a little louder especially with the straight thru design muffler but like I said it isn't obsenely loud. My wife doesn't complane about it any more than when it was stock

Hope this helps.

Diamond Eye 4

I have a Diamond Eye 4 on my 95. I like it. The hard part is removing the old stock down pipe. It's a pain. When installing the new down pipe a portapower will help alot to adjust the floor so the larger down pipe will clear the body. If the new pipe hits the body you will hear alot of nosie.
