I used 3 1/2 inch diameter 24 inch long tips on my 88 model. What kind of muffler are you going to go with? I used a 2 chamber flowmaster single inlet dual outlet muffler on mine, with a set of shorty headers and a high flow catalytic convertor. It definitely has a good low rumble to it!

1988 F-150, SWB, 5.0 EFI (formerly 4.9 EFI), M5OD 5 speed, 3.08 gears, Summit shorty truck headers, Custom built Flowmaster exhaust system. Force 4 LP6000 lightbar, Federal signal PA-300 100 watt siren, Icom IC-V100 50 watt mobile radio.

1965 F-100 (just purchased 1/18/01), SWB, 390, C-6 auto. Dual exhaust, Not much else to do to it.

Can see both below.

Thanks for your reply, but I gave up and just bought a new truck instead. A 2001 f150 supercrew lariat. Black. Love it!
It drives so different from the extended cab I can't believe it. So glad I finally decided to go ahead and buy the 2001 but did not expect such a different driving experience you know.

thanks,,,,

Oh well, no problem. At least you know what kind of parts you can always put on this one right?

Not sure as of yet what parts I can play with but am getting a spray on bedliner *line-x* and the bed extender. Did you know that if you buy the extender from the factory it's 195$$ and at the parts dept at the dealership it is 495$$ ?? What a rip off and talk about taking advantage of your customers. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. Crooks. I know they have to make money but two and a half times ????? Just plain greedy. Boy did I swing a hell of a deal though. My father retired from Ford so I get new trucks on the a-plan. Sticker-30,000,,,I paid 24,800. Can't beat it. Oh well, about to check out your web site,,,,talk at you later.

That's rough. Don't they know how bad that hurts? I know about the good deals though. I have a friend that works for a dealership parts dept. He lets me know exactly what their price is, before I buy anything! He also tells me whether its a good deal or not, and whether I should go get it from a local shop instead of getting cheated.

Good luck on your truck. I just had the exhaust system on my 65 worked on today. ThHe previous owner installed 2 inch tailpipes! I couldn't believe that, 2 inch tailpipes with a 390? Talk about trying to scream through a straw. I had the muffler shop put on two turn downs righ tout of the mufflers, boy it's a lot louder now ( at idle, but on the road you can barely hear it inside the cab.)
