I have a line on a 302 engine locally. I have been told that it is from the mid 80's. It has a rear sump oil pan which will fit in my 54 F100 well.
Are there any block/cylinder head numbers that I need to look for?
What do I need to look for to find any problems?
What year did Ford begin using computer controlled distributors?
EFI started in 1986 though there were several versions of some gawdawful electronic controlled TBI or carb before that.. if you find this just throw it away. Any 302 distributor will fit the block, so finding the distributor you need for whatever ignition system you end up using should not be an issue.
Block casting numbers are on the rear lower area of the block. Head casting numbers are on the head gasket side, you need the intake off to see them at the very least.
