Is there something different about the #8 injector. I am having to have that one replaced now.. Just had 1-3-5 replaced on vacation and then a couple of days later the noise started again. I had them all tested and they found that #8 was bad. I realize that it's harder to get to,but the cost of the injector was more than the others.. Does it do something different or something???

The number 8 injector is a long lead injector. The LL injector has a longer primary shot of fuel to help with the under fueling condition caused by the dead end fuel rail. Also, Ford designed the #6 and #8 cylinder to fire in that order, #6, then #8. They are both on the drivers side, with #8 being all the way on the back. The fuel system feeds from the front of the block, so when it fires, the #8 injector is a little short on fuel.
The LL injector fires a larger pilot injection to make up for the fuel deficiency.
Hummmm.. Thanks...Always some way for them to make more money. It was interesting to see the differences in the bill for the work time.. The 1-3-5 injectors,ISP and two harnesses were billed out at 12 hours and they took LESS than five hours.. This time the #8 and harness and valve cover gasket cost me $979 total and $440 of that was for the injector alone..I checked with two different dealers and they came up with the injector price within $25.Oh and the hourly rate at this place was more than the dealer..But still cheaper..
