A friend and i was at a resturant and having a few cold ones the beverage was 27-to 29 degrees coming out of the tap .(posted on a display in the resturant ) when we got home the friend tried to make his garage fridge approx the same temp .(mounted a temp guage in his fridge and adjusted to 29 degrees ) he ended up drilling holes between the freezer and the fridge . (to help bring the temp down .) now he ends up with frozen beverage if the beer is left in the fridge to long .
anyway we have started a competion between us and neighbors to have the coldest beverage in the area .
i was thinking of buying a keg and installing it in the fridge then spiraling a copper line through the freezer and back into the fridge with a tap on the end . i worry about the beer freezing solid in the line and causing problems . also we only get together once a week and was wondering how long a keg will stay fresh . i know this is not really automotive but i believe that we may have some fun with it ! HOW CAN I GET BEER COLD ENOUGH TO FROST A MUG WHEN POURED ? THANKS RG
OMG!!! The bar is using compressed gas and it's not that cold at the tap. PERIOD, you wouldn't be able to drink the **** without cardiac arrest. Its a sales pitch some yahoo drummed up to get patrons in the door. You want cold beer, "GET A FREEKING IGLOO COOLER FILL IT WITH ICE AND BEER" start drinking.....
WE JUST HAD TO MUCH TIME ON OUR HANDS ! your correct about the igloo ,ice and water being the the best .(really does out do our fridge)
i was wondering how they did it .(and if it was possible ) thanks for your knowledge .
Google fridge keg, kegarator or whatever they call them and you'll get the answer. They use C02/N02(I think) to pump the beer from the keg so no one has to hand pump it. The gas is extremely cold leaving the container. This could be measured remotely with a thermometer and is probably what they are reading.. also there is C/F when it comes to temp.
My vote will always go for the igloo and ice method LOL
On the upside sounds like you guys have a fridge you can fill with ice trays now LMAO!!
I just realized your post says 27 to 29 deg not -27 which would be plenty doable provided the tap is flowing rather often and no you wouldnt be able to keep veggies in the box LOL
A keg will last about a month tops(thats pushing it). But if you let all the air out, all taps have a pressure release valve, the beer will stay fresh(not fresh brewed fresh but drinkable) for around 2 months. The best way to get it cold enough that its all most unbareable is to get a old fridge take all the shelves out drill 2 hole for pressure tube and filler tube. Then get a cooler (igloo) take some stainless or copper tube at least 30 feet wrap it around 5 gallon bucket to get a good coil. Then drill 2 holes in the cooler inlet and outlet put the coil in the cooler and hook the filler hose from the fridge to the inlet tube on the cooler and hook a tap to the outlet. Put ice and rock salt in the cooler and pressurize the keg with a tank of CO2 or a hand pump and BAM you got some COLD BEERz.
PS Make sure the keg stays cold or the beer will turn green and you will PUKE.....ALOT!
