Hey guys, i need some help getting to my timing chain to check it out... Ive gotten everything i needed off, off, and now im stuck at the harmonic balancer [not sure what it is called on a 223 engine]. The shop manual says i need a special tool to take it off, but does anyone have a fancy or qwik and dirty way to do it? And if worse comes to worse does anyone know where i can buy a tool to remove this d**n thing?! Thanks for all your help in advance people! :]
damn
i thought about doing that, except i have a grant steering wheel puller, but it was too small...i hope i dont have to resort to buying from JCwhitney, [they always seem to screw me over]
I got the bolt that is in the middle of the balance off, but now how do i get the actual balancer off? i tried to pry it out gently with a crowbar but even that didnt work... any ideas?
GO BUY/RENT THE FKN puller before you have to buy a balancer. Jeez! You remove the bolt and washer, then install the puller with the correct length bolts and tada 2 min your done.
1. If you buy the puller you wont have to go rent it again if you need to do the mess over for one reason or another.
2. Nothing like having the right tools for the job down the road. Folks trip out when you have **** to get the job done.

That's why I have the Snap-On bolt grip puller set.
I used it a hundred times.
My 351c is on an engine stand and upside down with oil pan off. You don't really need an excuse to go by another tool do you? I have been looking at the gear pullers and will probably add one or two soon enough.
