Haven't posted much since signing up but this will be a long one. I am contemplating a major project to upgrade from an open rear drive to a limited slip of some kind. I currently have a 9.75 rear with 3.55 gears (03 SuperCab 2wd long bed). I am happy with the gears but would like to have limited slip instead of an open rear axle. Few questions;
1. Everyone wants to know whether I have 28 or 31 spline axles, is there a way to determine this without pulling the axle? (Axle tags read 3191BB over 355 975 2M17 and FEAP OIL ONLY over Y75W900FEHB)
2. I plan on doing this myself, being retired you have to conserve the bucks. I have the tools and have set-up many 9" rears during my race days. If I am just changing the center spool out do you see any problems?
3. I am open to recommendations for a locker, my experience is primarily with Mustang Super Stock drag cars back in the 70's.
