Air turbulence with rear windows open

I just purchased an '08 SCrew lariat the other day. Has anybody else noticed the severe turbulence created with the rear windows open in this model or is it just my truck. At 40 mph, it sounds like a helicopter (due to the air pressure changing in the cab most likely) and the entire truck vibrates as if you are driving on a washboard-type road. I may be exxagerating just a little but it is pretty bad! I don't remember my '04 SCrew doing that but I will have to check it out tonight. The dealer service writer said that it was normal for that to happen with the rear windows open.

I experience the same thing in my 2004 SCrew Lariat at about the same speed. I never have the rears open at any higher speed so I dont know if it goes away or not. I'm pretty sure its a common thing at that speed.

Wind noise

I have the same thing on my 06 screw. It does not matter what speed I am running. To do away with it I slide open my back glass or pop open my moon roof.

I don't have an issue with the "wind noise" Mauser - its the vibration in the entire truck that surprised me. I don't remember experiencing that in my '04' but I will give it a test later. Maybe I just never had one or both rear windows open long enough to notice since I usually have the rear slider or moon roof open when trying to get the heat out quicker.

Thanks for the information - I didn't think it was just this truck but I couldn't find any similar posts so I began to wonder . . . . . .

I had the 2 rear windows down half way a few days ago with no problems. I'll try full down next time.

front windows all down
rear windows 1/2 or all down

get a horrible thumping noise/sensation that you can more feel than hear. lots of overpressure and hurts my ears

to solve:
1. open rear slider
2. only have 3 windows open (doesn't always fix problem)
3. only have fronts cracked
4. only open rears about 2-3"
5. run a/c with windows up

FYI, opening the moonroof actually makes it worse for me. and also, the Dodge/Chevies do it also.

This wind noise exists with the crew cabs. I have it in my '07 F150 and my '02 F250. I can open the sliding window in the F250 and largely eliminate the noise; my F150 doesn't have a sliding window. This is simply something you live with if you have a crew cab.

Same problem with my 04 Crew. Even my wifes Mazda 5 does it. Just crack one of the front windows and it goes away.

Mine went away when I added in-channel vent visors. I can now run with the back windows down without any of that noise.

My 04 Screw does the same thing still have not gotten around to fixing it. But TSB 05-14-2 addresses it, basically it is opening up your headliner just enough to install a couple of foam blocks by the interior light. Hope this helps everyone out.
