Has anyone used the Ranchhand bedrail caps? I want to replace the plastic ones when I repaint my truck but the dealer around here told me that the Dee Zee's don't fit very good and the other brands are made to go over the factory plastic ones. The Ranchhands look good on their site but I'd like to hear from owners how they look and fit. Thanks.
I've got a set of the Ranchhands I bought for a 99, then swapped them over to my 02 when some idiot was kind enough to total the 99. The fit on mine is not perfect in the rear. They're about 1/2" too short, but they don't taper around the back of the rail like some of the aluminum models. I know they've changed the design some, so the best bet would be find a place that will let you set them on your truck to get an idea of what it looks like.
Mine go over the plastic caps. I will say, you won't find anything better in the durability department, which is why I bought them. Sliding 500 lbs up and down the bed rails won't hurt them one bit, but if you're just going for looks you may be happier with something else. I'm happy with mine.
I think the Ranch Hands are designed to stop short on the back, every set I've seen does. And all of them are also over the plastic stockers. Don't they all come with the gussets to attach their headache racks too? Might look weird if you dont have a rack or a box to hide them.
So nobody makes replacements for the plastic? I don't want to just cover them up, I want to replace them, I've seen a guy that had some on top of the factory caps and it didn't look too good.
You could Line-X over the rail and not have any plastic caps. It looks a touch goofy unless theres a rail over it IMO, but if you cover coated metal with an aftermarket cap it looks better than aftermarket over OEM.
