97' Speaker noise help!

I have a 97' extended cab and just had the GEM module and fuse panel replaced because of cold weather causing my interior lights, windshield wipers and power windows not to work. At the same time I have (and still have) a loud crackle and snapping sound from the right front speaker. The sound comes and goes, but now has stayed for four days. The Ford dealer ship wanted $150.00 to send the radio out to be looked at, and replace the antenna wire because it was corroded. Any ideas?

97' Speaker noise help!

Good Lord! It would be cheaper to put in a cheap speaker and see if that is the problem rather then shell out a 150 good ones. Besides, for that money you could put in a aftermarket system that would perform better then stock!

Can you tell me more about your GEM module problem. I have a problem with my interior lamps staying on longer than they should. FALLSMEDIC(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

if it is making a popping or snapping noise the speaker is bad. Autozone has the speaker for the '97, I think it is the 6"x8" speaker. Cost only $18. The ones in the door are easy to replace. i still can't figure out how to get the one behind the driver replaced. That is the last stock speaker i have.
