1992 f150 fuel pump problems

Hello, i'm having a problem with my daughters 1992 f150 with a inline 6. Heres the problem. The engine will turn over and it does have spark but it will not start, when you first turn the key the fuel pump runs constant but again will not start. Also my daughter told me the engine light has been coming on and off for a while. any ideas or has anyone ran into this before. Thanks in advanced.

Check codes snce the CEL has been on. Check fuel pressure with KOEO i thing you dhould have around 45psi and with engine running about 32psi. Is the vacuum line to the Fuel Pressur Regulator wet with gas - if so replace the FPR since the diaphram is blown.

if the fuel pump runs constantly then it is time for a new computer.

classic symptom.

read codes.

the computer may still be the problem.

i worked on an f150 that had fuel pump run correctly then run bad the next day and back and forth until i replaced it.

Could also be a bad ground somewhere, affected by temperature, moisture or rain.

the computer harness may be loose or corroded.

Another update: checked fuel pressure at the rail and it read 47 psi, will start with starting fluid and then run rough at idle, the next day it starts right up but still runs rough. i have duel tanks and once it is started i'll switch to the rear tank and it seems to run perfect. I looked all over the net and it seems this is a common problem with this year of a truck and I6 engine but no solutions. have any ideas? Thanks

You still have a bad computer (it has bad caps in it).
You will not be able to read the codes except when the pumps run for the one second and then the engine will also run.

Isn't bad caps usually a consistant thing, rather than intermittant sometimes and not always thing ?

Except in a warm vs cold situation ?

No caps can heal them selves and then go bad again.

Now if I could get my PM to work it would be great.
But without it I do not do much posting.
I have never fingered out why they took that away from me.
