totally dead
My '86 I6 250 cut out on me while driving. Its absolutely dead (no lights). Battery & connections look OK. I jumped the solenoid and was able to get it to crank. Any clues?

By crank do you meen run? If it starts then dies i would check the power at coil in run position. If none then check starter relay/solinoid.
These are the problems I like but it is easier to fix when it is in front of you. Let me know what you find.
